Rod Blagojevich calls for Barack Obama to testify at forthcoming corruption trial

Rod Blagojevich, the former Illinois governor accused of trying to sell Barack Obama's vacated Senate seat, has asked a judge to require the president to testify at his forthcoming corruption trial.

Lawyers for Blagojevich argued that Mr Obama has "direct knowledge" of the alleged plot to auction the coveted seat to the highest bidder and that his testimony is critical for a fair trial.
